The Consumer Protection Service of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, as the Competent Authority for the implementation of the above Laws, during the month of July 2024, proceeded to withdraw from the Cypriot market the products that appear here, which were found to pose serious risks to the health and safety of consumers or did not comply with the relevant provisions of the legislation:

Recommendations - Warnings

The Consumer Protection Service invites consumers, in case they possess the above products, to stop using them and return them to the seller, i.e. the shop from which they have purchased them, while informing him/her accordingly.

It should be noted that according to the Law on Certain Aspects Concerning Contracts for the Sale of Goods of 2021, in case of purchase of an unsafe product, the consumer is entitled to a replacement of the product so that the product complies with the terms of the sales contract. If this is not possible, then the consumer is entitled to withdraw, i.e. to return the product to the seller and receive a refund of the full amount paid.

Recall that the above rights apply for a period of 2 years from the initial delivery of the product to the consumer and that the final seller is always solely liable to the consumer.

In the event that the seller refuses to comply with the above rights of the consumer, the consumer is invited to submit a written complaint via the website of the Consumer Protection Service.

Finally, the CPC reminds consumers that they can be informed about dangerous products detected in the European Union via the website of the Consumer Protection Service at www.consumer.gov.cy or via the website of the Rapid Exchange of Information System on Dangerous Products (GRAS-RAPEX) at https:/ec.europa.eu/safety-gate/#/screen/home
