The Minister expressed his pleasure for his visit to the INGC, as he said that he had the opportunity to learn about its activities, its programmes and the difficulties it faces.

The Ministry, he stressed, will always stand by the Institute because of the excellent work it has been doing for several years. "We are always by their side and helpful in whatever we can help," Damianos noted.

He added that he had a meeting yesterday with the competent bodies in the pharmaceutical sector in order to coordinate and speed up the procedures.

In conclusion, he stressed that there is no concern about the issue of medicines, noting that where there is cooperation, solutions are provided.

For his part, the Executive Director General and Medical Director of the Institute, Professor Leonidas Phylaktou, said that the Minister was shown around the premises of the Institute and was informed about the programmes that directly concern patients, but also about the research and education programmes of the Postgraduate School of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.

"The INGC is an extension of the state, it belongs to the state. Our goal and mission is always to improve ourselves, for the benefit of patients, either through the direct services we offer or through the development of innovative research projects," he concluded.
