[PIO] Visit of the Minister of Defence Mr. Vassilis Palma to Athens and participation in the Foreign Affairs Council of EU Defence Ministers on

The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Vassilis Palmas, accepting the invitation of his Greek counterpart, is making his first official visit to Athens today, Monday 29 January 2024.

During the visit, bilateral talks will take place between the delegations of the two countries, after which the two Ministers will make statements to the media.

During his stay in Athens, Mr. Palmas will lay a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier.

He will then depart for Brussels, where he will participate in the informal meeting of European Union (EU) Defence Ministers, which will take place on 30 and 31 January 2024.

He will also have a meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

The agenda of the meeting is expected to discuss, inter alia, the situation in Ukraine, EU defence preparedness and current developments.
