[PIO] Visit of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Mr. Petros Xenophontos to supermarkets in view of the Christmas holidays

Inspections in supermarkets were carried out today by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr.Petros Xenophontos, in view of the Christmas holidays, in order to be informed about the adequacy and quality of agricultural products, meat and food available in the market. The Minister was accompanied by the Director General of the General Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development and officials.

In his statements, Mr. Xenophontos noted that he is satisfied with the flow of products and is confident that all consumer needs will be met. He said, "Today's tour of the supermarkets is symbolic. Nevertheless, inspections by the relevant government agencies are continuing intensively to ensure that there is sufficiency, food safety and assured quality." He went on to express their thanks to the Directors of the relevant Departments and their staff for their efforts in providing consumers with safe and quality food.

Asked about the prices of products, Mr. Minister mentioned that people generally seem to be happy with both the prices and quality of the products and that the Christmas and New Year's table will be full and festive.
