The Office of the Commissioner for the Presidency in cooperation with the organised groups of our Diaspora and our parochial schools in various countries where Cypriots of the Diaspora reside presents a Commemorative Video on April 1st and the beginning of the Liberation Struggle 1955-1959.
The Liberation Struggle of 55'-59', one of the most important chapters in the modern history of Cyprus, gave the much needed freedom and independence to our island. Our heroes fought and sacrificed their lives for their country. They fought bravely proving their valour and bravery against the English conqueror.
With feelings of emotion and pride we present children and young people of our Diaspora, who, although living far away, demonstrate their close ties with our homeland and give their own messages for the struggle, reciting poems and songs to honour the Struggle and the heroes of 1955-59.
We are proud of Hellenism Abroad and their timeless struggles for our Cyprus. We are especially proud of the new generation of Expatriate Cypriots, who, no matter how far away they are, love and honour their homeland. This is one of the main pillars of our strategy, our young people of the Diaspora to maintain their links with their roots, traditions, culture and history. Because these children are the future of Hellenism Abroad and our hope for a brighter future.
