The Plan to cover the travel, accommodation and food expenses of patients sent for treatment abroad and a companion was the focus of a meeting of the Minister of Health Mr. In a statement after the meeting, Mr Damianos noted that the implementation of the Subsidy Scheme was a long-standing, fair and reasonable request of patients. He noted that this was the implementation of a commitment of the Nicos Christodoulides government to the society.
"We discussed the details of the Plan, which have been posted on the website of the Ministry of Health since March 19, in order to solve any questions. I believe that we have provided answers to all questions and we are at the disposal of the OASC for any further explanation requested," he said.
He concluded by saying that the Ministry's goal is to solve problems, support patients and offer the best possible health services.
For his part, the President of OSAK Mr. Charalambos Papadopoulos expressed his satisfaction with the immediate implementation of the subsidy plan by the Ministry of Health.
"We are in agreement with the provisions of the plan, which we welcome, as it will end the suffering of patients", he added.
He thanked both the Minister of Health and the Director General of the Ministry for the preparation of the subsidy plan within a very short period of time.
