The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Niki Kerameos, who is visiting Cyprus to inform Greek citizens residing in the country about the possibility of exercising their right to vote by postal vote in the upcoming elections for members of the European Parliament. Mrs Kerameos was accompanied by the Greek Ambassador to Cyprus, Mr Ioannis Papameletiou.
During the meeting, the President of the Parliament was informed by the Greek Minister on the implementation of the recently adopted legislation, which allows the exercise of the right to vote by postal vote, within and outside the Greek territory, ensuring, among other things, the secrecy of the vote and the prevention of double voting.
Cyprus is the starting point of Mrs. Cyprus is the starting point of Kerameos' tour of various states, as part of the Hellenic Republic's campaign to inform Greek citizens, who are permanently or temporarily abroad, about the legislation in question, which facilitates the exercise of the right to vote.
The Speaker of the Parliament congratulated Mrs. The President of the Parliament congratulated Mrs Kerameos on the recent adoption of the above legislation, stressing the importance of enabling the exercise of the right to vote by postal vote as a means of further promoting democracy and enhancing the active participation of citizens in the electoral process. In addition, he referred to the reform of local government and the forthcoming elections, which will involve the election of both elected local government officials and members of the European Parliament.
