[PIO] The Session of the Cyprus-Serbia Cooperation Council took place today in Belgrade

The 3rd Cyprus-Serbia Cooperation Council meeting took place today in Belgrade, headed by the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulides and the President of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vučić. Mr. Konstantinos Kombos, Minister of Defence Mr. Michael Giorgallas, Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Ms. Athena Michaelidou, Government Spokesman Mr. Konstantinos Letibiotis, Ambassador of the Republic to Serbia Mr. Andreas Fotiou, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President Mr. After the meeting, Cyprus and Serbia signed Memoranda of Understanding in the presence of the Presidents of the two countries.

Specifically, the following were signed:

A Memorandum of Cooperation between the Diplomatic Academies of Cyprus and Serbia, which aims to promote and develop mutual cooperation between the two countries for the better education and training of their diplomatic staff, as well as for the promotion of their research activities.

In particular, the Memorandum provides for the exchange of curricula, courses and seminars and new teaching methods. The cooperation extends to the mutual exchange of teachers, lecturers, experts and students in areas of mutual interest.

The Memorandum was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.

Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Science, Innovation and Advanced Technologies, which provides for the development of cooperation in the field of science, innovation and advanced technologies.

Through the MOU, the Parties undertake continuous efforts to promote, facilitate and support cooperation between interested organizations and companies in their respective countries in the fields of agriculture, biotechnology, climate change and energy efficiency, smart manufacturing, robotics and cultural heritage conservation.

The Memorandum was signed on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and on behalf of Serbia by the Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic.

Memorandum of Understanding in the field of education between the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and the Serbian Ministry of Education, which seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in areas such as higher education and cooperation between universities, technical and vocational education and training, education for the environment and sustainable development, non-formal and informal learning and teacher training.

The Memorandum was signed by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Cyprus and the Minister of Education of Serbia, Mrs Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic.

This was followed by a working lunch hosted by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Mrs Ana Brnabić, in honour of the President of the Republic.
