The President of the Republic Mr Nicos Anastasiades today signed the book of condolences on the death of David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, which was opened at the European Parliament's "House of Europe" office in Nicosia.
In his message, the President of the Republic wrote the following.
I had the privilege of knowing and working with David Sassoli and will always remember him as an excellent President, a dedicated European leader and a man of vision and principles who never stopped working tirelessly for a democratic, united, effective and strong European Union.
Cyprus and Europe have lost a good friend.
Cyprus and Europe have lost a good friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, as well as with the people of his special homeland, Italy.
Goodbye dear President and Friend."
