The President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides received today, at the Presidential Palace, a delegation of the Famagusta Municipality and a group of its guests who will attend the anti-riot event of the Famagusta Municipality, which will take place tomorrow evening in Deryneia.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic said, among other things, that "Cyprus is a member state of the European Union (EU), a status that completes 20 years this year. A status that will continue to exist even after the resolution of the Cyprus problem.
I can say that I am pleased that there is this interest and this commitment from the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General himself, as he conveyed to me recently in a discussion we had in Paris, but also from the EU side with the President of the Commission.
I hope that in August we will hear developments towards the resumption of talks."
