The members of the Cypriot delegation informed President Christodoulides about the multifaceted work of the CPSU and the important experiences they gain from their participation in the Assembly, representing the House of Representatives. They stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and expressed their thanks to Mrs Bakoyannis and the other members of the Greek delegation for their uninterrupted cooperation and support for the work of the Cypriot delegation, both within the Council of Europe and more broadly.
They exchanged views on current developments on the Cyprus problem and other issues of wider international interest as well as the role of the Council of Europe in an ever-changing environment. Among other issues discussed were the volatile situation in the Middle East and the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus to create a maritime corridor for the transport of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Finally, the conviction was expressed that the coordination achieved at parliamentary level complements and significantly strengthens the initiatives undertaken at executive level, highlighting the prestige and credibility of Greece and Cyprus in the European and international arena.
