The President of the Republic Mr Nikos Christodoulides listened today to the carols by the philharmonic bands of the Police, the ELDYK and the National Guard.

Addressing the members of the Police and the National Guard, the President of the Republic wished them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with health and personal and family happiness.

Addressing the members of the ELDYK, who sang carols from all Hellenism, the President of the Republic said: "I want to thank you and ask you to convey [MY WISHES] to your colleagues who are also, like you, away from their families under the Treaties of Establishment of the Republic of Cyprus, demonstrating in practice with your presence the respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus.

Your presence since the founding of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960 sends the message that the Republic of Cyprus, despite challenges, despite problems, despite external enemies, is here and will remain. It is here now as a member of the great European family, contributing through its actions to ensuring conditions of stability and security in the region, which is currently suffering from a war."
