[PIO] The President of the Republic had a meeting with the President of the ECHR

The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Nicos Christodoulides, had a meeting with the President of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), Ms Síofra O'Leary, in Strasbourg this afternoon.

President Christodoulides, who went to the ECHR building after addressing the Plenary Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, was received by the President of the Court, with whom he then had a private meeting.

The meeting focused on issues relating to the implementation of the ECHR's judgments and the Court's enormous importance and role in the protection of human rights.

The President of the Republic informed the President of the ECHR about the latest developments in the Cyprus problem, while assuring her of the Republic of Cyprus' full commitment to the Court's judgments.
