[PIO] The President of the National Assembly of Slovenia pays an official visit to Cyprus

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Mrs Urška Klakočar Zupančič, arrives in Cyprus this afternoon for an official visit, following an invitation by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs Anita Demetriou. Mrs Klakočar Zupančič is leading a delegation consisting of MPs Dušan Stojanovič and Iva Dimic, President and Member, respectively, of the Slovenian-Cypriot Friendship Group in the Slovenian Parliament and senior officials. The delegation will be accompanied by the Ambassador of Slovenia to Cyprus, based in Athens, Ms Tamara Weingerl Požar.

During their stay in Cyprus, Ms Klakočar Zupančič and the members of the Slovenian National Assembly will have a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament, Ms Anita Demetriou. After the meeting, the two Presidents will make statements to the media. Mario Hartsiotis and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs and Chairman of the Cyprus-Slovenia Friendship Group in the House of Representatives Mr. Haris Georgiades and Members of the Committee. Klakočar Zupančič and her accompanying delegation will have separate meetings with the Mayor of Nicosia, Mr. Konstantinos Yiorkatzis, and the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General and Head of UNFICYP, Mr. Colin Stewart.

Tonight, the two Presidents will attend the inaugural meeting of the Cyprus-Slovenian Friendship Association in Limassol and the opening of an exhibition of Slovenian art.

Mrs Klakočar Zupančič will be received at Larnaca Airport, on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, by MP Andreas Pasiourtides.
