The Cyprus Ports Authority was invited and attended, through its Chairman Dr. The meeting was convened by the President of the Republic, through his President, Mr. Antonos Stylianou, on 17 January 2022, at the Presidential Palace, in relation to safety issues in the wider Vasilikos area.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Transport, Communications and Works and Justice and Public Order, as well as officials from relevant departments.
The President of the Republic gave clear instructions to speed up the completion of the projects related to the creation of the Energy Centre, given their strategic importance.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Ports Authority handed over to the Presidency a written memorandum of the Authority with its positions and recommendations in relation to security issues related to both the wider area and security within the port area, as the Cyprus Ports Authority has been designated as its security authority.
