The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Kingdom, Dr Kyriakos Kouros, presented on 9 May 2024 his credentials to the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, as the new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the IMO, at the Organization's headquarters in London.
During the presentation of the credentials, the Permanent Representative conveyed to the Secretary General the warm greetings of the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, expressing his full support for the work carried out by the IMO and the commitment of the Government to continue its close cooperation with the Organization. He also briefed the Secretary General on the current phase of the Cyprus problem and the efforts of the President of the Republic for the resumption of talks towards the resolution of the Cyprus problem and the reunification of Cyprus.
The Secretary General of the IMO, after welcoming Dr. Kouros, wished him every success in carrying out his diplomatic mission and thanked him for the exemplary cooperation between the Organization and Cyprus over the years, describing Cyprus as an important partner.
During the meeting, both sides confirmed their willingness to strengthen Cyprus' relations with the International Maritime Organization.
