The Office of the Gender Equality Commissioner welcomes the passage of the amendment bill to increase maternity leave from 18 to 22 weeks.
The increase in maternity leave is another step forward in enhancing work-life balance in Cyprus, as it will allow working mothers to stay longer with their children.
From the very beginning we have placed the issue of gender equality high on our priorities and we will continue, through the implementation of specific and targeted policies and actions, to work intensively towards the realisation of the goal of promoting equality between women and men.
