An example to follow is the current action of our fellow citizens, who acted swiftly and collectively, while they were in an excursion area for their holidays.
Specifically, on 15/08/2024, at 18:15, our fellow citizens, who were at the excursion site "Xerokolympos" near the Holy Monastery of Trooditissa, spotted a number of people, who were walking along the nearby ravine and illegally started a fire for reasons unknown so far.
Our fellow citizens immediately informed the forest patrol that was in the area and together with the forces that arrived at the site, contributed to the arrest of these people.
Strong firefighting forces of the Forestry Department, as well as the Director of the Department, Dr. Savvas Iezekiel, were immediately directed to the spot.
At the same time, the Platres Police was informed, which arrived at the spot and arrested two people. The Police continues to investigate the incident.
To all those who were not indifferent and helped the most, so that the worst could be avoided, the Forestry Department expresses its sincere thanks and congratulates them.
This is an example to follow because if every citizen at the right time is not indifferent, neither our forests will be endangered, nor private property. Much more, no human lives will be lost.
