[PIO] The Ministry of Education implements a pilot programme for the learning of German language in secondary schools

The Council of Ministers today approved a proposal by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth for the implementation of a pilot programme for the teaching of German in public secondary schools.

Specifically, for the school year 2023-2024, the schools selected for the implementation of the German language learning programme are. Makarios III (Platy) and Arch. The programme will operate in the first grade of the Gymnasium and the first grade of the Lyceum, respectively, and the lessons will be held after the end of the morning classes, from 13:35 to 14:20, without affecting the existing timetable of the schools.

Through the programme, students will be given the opportunity to learn German at a very good level, under the supervision and guidance of the Goethe German Institute. In addition, the Goethe Institute will provide the teachers with training in teaching methodology, as well as certification of the level of German language learning.
