The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development is launching a call for the prevention of damage to forests due to forest fires, natural disasters and catastrophic events.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, as the Managing Authority of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, in cooperation with the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Agency (CAP) and the Department of Forests announce the 3rd call for proposals under Scheme 8.3 entitled: "Prevention of damage to forests due to forest fires, natural disasters and catastrophic events", the main purpose of which is to strengthen and improve the existing system of protection of forests and woodlands from fires.
Eligible actions in this notice are:
A) Creation and maintenance of protective infrastructure:
- Construction of water reservoirs
- Installation of fire safety systems
B) Installation and improvement of facilities and communication equipment for monitoring forest fires:
- Construction of fire shelters
- Development and improvement of existing telecommunication system
The beneficiaries of the scheme, depending on the action, are the Forestry Department, Local Authorities, Ecclesiastical, Monastic and other Religious Authorities, as well as natural entities or their associations.
The total budget allocated for the implementation of actions co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development under the 3rd call for proposals of the Regulation amounts to €800,000.
