Deputy Minister of State for Culture Dr Vasiliki Kassianidou is travelling to Jordan for an official visit, as part of the effort to strengthen cultural and diplomatic relations between Cyprus and Jordan.
During her visit, the Deputy Minister will meet, among others, with the Jordanian Minister of Culture Mrs. Haifa Najjar and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Mr. Emad Hijazeen as well as with Princess Dana Firas of Jordan, who is President of the Petra National Trust and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) of Jordan and also serves as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
In addition, as part of her visit, the Deputy Minister will visit the Jordanian Handicraft Producers Association, while she will also pay visits to important cultural sites and archaeological sites.
Topics on the Deputy Minister's agenda include strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of ancient and modern culture, with particular emphasis on the protection of ancient monuments from climate change.
