Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou departed today for Thessaloniki, where he will represent the Government at the events condemning the anniversaries of the coup and the Turkish invasion. The Minister of Interior will be the keynote speaker at the national memorial service for those who died during the 1974 coup and Turkish invasion, which will be held in Thessaloniki on Sunday, 7 July 2024. Ioannou will attend on Saturday, 6 July 2024, an event organized at the Square of the Fallen and Missing Warriors of Cyprus in Serres, as well as at the funeral service to be held at the Cypriot Fighters' Grove in Vergina, Imathia.
Finally, the Interior Minister will participate in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony at the Grove of the Victims of the Cyprus Tragedy in Kalamaria and will address the main event organised by the Municipality of Kalamaria at the Refugee Hellenism Square.
On the sidelines of his presence in Thessaloniki, Mr. Minister will have contacts with local leaders of Thessaloniki, Serres and Kalamaria, as well as with organized groups of Cypriot expatriates in Northern Greece.
Mr. Ioannou returns to Cyprus on Monday, 8 July 2024.
