A visit to the Nicosia General Hospital was made today by Health Minister Dr. Popi Kanari, ahead of the New Year's Eve celebrations.
The Minister, in her remarks, referred to the difficulties of the profession of those involved in the health sector and their commitment to their duties during these holy days.
"We wanted to give a note of hope to the patients but also support to the staff, with the wish that they are armoured with strength to cope with the difficult circumstances that are common in such a profession, and give our wishes to all for a better 2024," Dr Kanari said.
The Health Minister, referring to what happened in the year 2023 and what can be done in 2024, noted that "there is much to be done," adding: "The efforts of all of us in the health sector are focused on improving even more health services and our attitudes towards patients, who need even more dignity and empathy."
Referring to President Nicos Christodoulides' programme, she noted the government's commitment to the General Health System.
On the occasion of her visit to the Nicosia General Hospital, the minister indicated that the hospital has "excellent services and clinics", adding: "Already nine clinics and five clinical laboratories are accredited. And at Makarios there are accredited clinics and laboratories and this proves the level of services. Our efforts are to upgrade the services and I believe these efforts will be more intensive in 2024."
