Health Minister Michalis Damianos, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr Christina Giannaki, paid a visit to the Polos Chrysochous Hospital this morning.

In statements made after a meeting held earlier at the Town Hall of Polos Chrysochous, the Minister of Health was asked to comment on the local authority's request for the construction of a new hospital in the area. Damianos explained that this is a major project and the request needs to be studied. The needs will be studied and where they exist we will be positive, the Health Minister said.

Referring to the discussion he had with the Mayor of the City of Chrysochous, members of the Municipal Council and community leaders of the area, he said that they expressed their satisfaction that the State has supported the area in matters related to the health sector, providing solutions.

"I assure them that we will be by their side to improve health services and solve problems and where the State can help and we will look more extensively at all the issues that we have discussed today, so that we can move forward," said the Minister of Health."

The Mayor of Polos Chrysochous Mr. Yiotis Papachristofi thanked the Minister of Health, noting that despite the short period of time since he took office, the new Minister visited the outlying area of Polis to discuss the problems of the region's hospital.

"Most of the problems have been solved, a few remain," the Mayor said, noting that the biggest issue is the issue of the buildings of the Polis Chrysochous Hospital. Papachristofi hoped that the creation of new modern facilities would be initiated in order to serve the area, which, he said, is expected to have great growth in the coming years.
