The Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Mr. George Papanastasiou concluded his contacts in Abu Dhabi with a private meeting yesterday, Wednesday, October 4, 2023, with the Minister of Investment of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), Mr. Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi.

During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of Mr. Papanastasiou's participation in the ADIPEC 2023 International Energy Exhibition and Conference, the various sectors of the Cypriot economy in which investments could be made by the UAE, with emphasis on energy, were discussed. The Emirati Investment Minister expressed particular interest in the project of the electrical interconnection between Israel, Cyprus and Greece, as well as in the infrastructure proposed to be built by Cyprus in order to bring natural gas to our country from the Eastern Mediterranean for exports and electricity generation. These infrastructures, it is noted, concern both the construction of an undersea gas transmission pipeline, which will also be able to transport hydrogen, and the creation of a gas liquefaction terminal, modular or floating technology.

The Energy Minister returns to Cyprus today.
