In his statements to the media, the Minister of Defence said that this is the first time that our country is dynamically present in this very important institution with its own pavilion and the participation of seven defence industry companies. The Cypriot participation this year in "EUROSATORY", one of the largest defence equipment exhibitions in the world, as well as the signing of two agreements between Cypriot and French companies today is proof of the commitment of the Cypriot government and President Christodoulides to promote and upgrade Cypriot defence industry companies, Palmas noted. "We want to stress as a government that we will continue this effort, as we believe it gives perspective and a future to the Cypriot defence industry and, at the same time, with the conditions that have existed in Cyprus for fifty years, we have a duty and obligation to put as much emphasis as we can on issues related to our defence policy."

Regarding the agreements signed, French Arkeocean and Lanego signed an agreement with the Cyprus Maritime and Marine Institute (CMMI) and SignalGeneriX for the joint development of a small submarine system, called EONIOS, for the exploration and protection of biodiversity in defined marine ecosystems, while the technology can also be used for surveillance and security of critical subsea installations. At the same time, the Cypriot company Encorp signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the French company Arquus for the assembly of specific Arquus vehicles under production in Cyprus. These collaborations strengthen the bilateral relations between France and Cyprus in the field of research and innovation in marine and maritime technology.

Earlier, during a reception hosted by the French Ministry of Defence on the occasion of the Exhibition, Mr. Palmas had a conversation with the French Minister of Defence, Mr. Sébastien Lecornu, during which the excellent cooperation between the two countries and the common will to further strengthen it were reaffirmed.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, Mr. Palmas also discussed with the Minister of National Defence of Greece, Mr. Nikos Dendias, the prospects for the development of the defence industry of Cyprus and Greece, as well as the common challenges facing our countries in the new geopolitical environment.

Afterwards, the two Ministers made joint statements to the media. Mr. Palmas expressed his thanks to Mr. Dendias for his presence at the Cypriot pavilion and to Greece, and in particular the Ministry of Defence, for their support to the Republic of Cyprus. For his part, the Greek Minister of Defence thanked his Cypriot counterpart not only for the invitation, but also for the always warm welcome, and described the first Cyprus pavilion at EUROSATORY as impressive. "Hellenism has two pavilions. For me it was a pleasure and an honour to tour the Cypriot pavilion, which shows that Cyprus has an ecosystem of defence industries, which I look forward to close cooperation with ours."

Finally, Mr. Palmas had a meeting with Serbian Deputy Defence Minister Nenad Miloradovic, with whom they discussed aspects of our bilateral cooperation.
