[PIO] The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment met with representatives of organised associations of the floriculture sector

The search for ways to strengthen the floriculture sector was discussed today by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Dr Maria Panayiotou, together with representatives of organised associations of the floriculture sector, at the Ministry of Agriculture.

The meeting focused on the challenges facing the floriculture sector and discussed proposals for measures that can be taken for its development and sustainability.

In particular, the representatives of the organised associations pointed out the main issues facing the sector, such as increases in operating costs and the effects caused by climate change, which affect the production and quality of products.

Dr Maria Panayiotou expressed the Ministry's willingness to find ways to support Cypriot flower growers. Acknowledging the challenges facing the sector, she stressed the need for initiatives that will enhance the viability and competitiveness of businesses.

In addition, the Minister emphasised the promotion of the quality of local production, considering it an essential means of enhancing the commerciality and competitiveness of Cypriot flower products in the market.
