The processes of the Provisional Coordination Councils (PCCs) of the Provincial Self-Government Organizations (POAs) are at a fairly advanced stage in view of the implementation of the Local Government Reform as of July 1, Minister of Interior Mr. Constantinos Ioannou, coming to a meeting with the MAO of the Famagusta LGU. In relation to the Housing Plan for Mountainous, Arid and Disadvantaged Areas and Rural Areas, the Home Affairs Minister noted that the slight delay in its announcement was due to the fact that several changes and upgrades had been made. According to Mr. Ioannou, comments and suggestions made by communities, community leaders and mayors have been taken into account. "We have made changes, such as extending the time period to two years, the beneficiaries of international students, funding, the inclusion of new communities. Several changes have been made, it is ready and has been sent to the Ministry of Finance for their input and next week it will be submitted to the Cabinet for ratification and announcement," he concluded.
