[PIO] The House of Representatives organises an event in honour of the poet Kyriakos Charalambidis

In the context of the implementation of the House of Representatives' aim to support and honour people of letters and arts, the House of Representatives is organising an honourable event dedicated to the Cypriot poet Kyriakos Charalambides, one of the most prominent representatives of modern Greek poetry, in order to honour his enduring contribution to modern Greek letters and his homeland.

The event will be addressed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Anita Demetriou, who will present the award to the poet on behalf of the House.

The programme of the event will also include a video screening of the song "The Wedding" (a setting of Kyriakos Charalambides' poem "At the crowns of his daughter" by the band "Rhodes of the Wind"), as well as a screening of an excerpt from the documentary by Ilias Demetriou Kyriakos Charalambides: An Hellenic poet (Paraskinio, ERT, 2007).

This will be followed by a speech on the work and contribution of Kyriakos Charalambidis by Professor of Modern Greek Philology Pantelis Voutouris and a talk by the poet, who will then recite his poems.

The event will conclude with a performance of the poet's verses set to music by the Choir of the Pancyprian Guild of Public Employees (PA.

The event will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the "Kasteliotissa" Hall, in Nicosia, at 6.00 p.m. and is open to the public.
