Our side has been invited by the United Nations (UN) to a meeting between the President of the Republic and the Turkish Cypriot leader, in the presence of the UN Secretary General (SG), an invitation which has been accepted by our side, Government Spokesman Mr.
In his statements to journalists, after the commemoration of the heroes of the community of Armos, in the Paphos district, and asked about the report of the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulides about the UN's approaching him for a trilateral meeting on August 13 in New York, he said: "As the President of the Republic himself communicated last night at the anti-government event of the Famagusta Municipality, we have received an invitation from the UN Secretary General on a specific date, August 13, to hold a meeting between President Christodoulides and Mr. Tatar in the presence of the UN Secretary General.
Our response was obviously positive, because it is precisely thanks to the efforts that our side is making, intensive efforts that it has been making from the very first moment it took office, that there has been this mobility on the Cyprus problem.
We hope that there will be a positive response this time from Mr Tatar and that this meeting will take place on 13 August, which will be able to allow progress, further mobility in our efforts to resume negotiations, always within the agreed framework."
