The General Accounting Office of the Republic announces that it has completed the process of staffing all Ministries and Deputy Ministries of the Government with Professional Accountants, who perform the role of Chief Financial Officer and lead a team of accounting and other support staff assigned to the entities they serve.

The provision of upgraded professional financial support services and good cooperation with Directorates General, managers and middle managers, as well as other staff, in the Ministries/departments and their subordinate departments serve the objectives below:

1. compliance with the regulatory framework,
2. sound management of public resources,
3. providing timely and reliable financial information to assist decision making, and
4. enhancing accountability and transparency.

The provision of integrated accounting and other financial management support services, adopting best practices followed by the European Commission, EU Member States and other advanced countries, is part of the changes related to the reform of public resource management in the Republic of Cyprus.
