[/B]The messages are optimistic despite the problems recorded in the aviation sector at the moment and the negative picture of the German economy[/I]
State Minister of Tourism Mr. Costas Koumis, who was the head of the Cypriot delegation at the famous tourism exhibition "ITB" Berlin.
In particular, Mr. Koumis held a series of contacts with the heads of tourism organizations that specialize or are very active in the German market, while contacts were also held with airline executives.
In the framework of the exhibition, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus also held political meetings with the Greek Minister of Tourism Mrs Olga Kefalogianni, the Minister of Tourism of Israel Mr Haim Katz, and the Minister of Tourism of Malta Mr Clayton Bartolo.
In his statements after the conclusion of the contacts, Mr. Koumis said the following:
"We came here to Germany with the aim of maintaining last year's gains from this important market. It has become clear from our meetings that we can be optimistic, despite the significant challenges we face this year. For example, the unprecedented situation in the aviation sector, which naturally adversely affects flight schedules to many destinations and consequently to our country, but also other negative parameters, such as, for example, the state of the German economy, which is essentially on the verge of economic recession.
Let us be optimistic that what is currently happening in Germany will soon come to an end. I am referring to the strike action in the air transport sector and in transport in general.
As far as 2025 is concerned, the signals are also positive. What remains is to continue contacts with a view to increasing the number of seats on offer, if of course the conditions in the aviation sector allow it.
We, as the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, will continue our multi-dimensional efforts to increase tourist flows to our country."
