[PIO] The Ambassador of Cyprus to Austria handed over his credentials

The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Austria, Andreas Ignatiou, presented his credentials to the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, during an official ceremony which took place at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna on 20 February 2024.

During the presentation of his credentials, Ambassador Ignatiou conveyed to President Van der Bellen the warm greetings of the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christoudoulides, and extended an invitation on behalf of Mr. Christoudoulides to pay a visit to Cyprus.

During their brief private conversation that followed, the Ambassador expressed his commitment to work to further strengthen the already friendly relations between the two countries. At the same time, he expressed thanks for Austria's steadfast support to the efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem, as well as for Austria's continued presence in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

President Van der Bellen thanked the new Ambassador and wished him every success in his work, stressing Austria's willingness to further deepen the already excellent bilateral relations.
