From 06:00 on 3 January 2022 until 06:00 on 4 February 2022, the Fire Service responded to 25 calls for assistance, 14 fires, 9 special services, of which only 3 involved natural disasters and 2 false calls.
The calls due to severe weather phenomena, mainly rainfall, concerned the Districts of Nicosia, Paphos and Famagusta. The Fire Service responded to 2 incidents involving falling and moving of trees in Nicosia and Paphos districts and 1 incident involving moving/dropping of loose materials in Famagusta district.
At 03.44 a call was received for a fire in an OPEL vehicle, which was parked in the parking area of a house in Lakatamia. Members of the Police and Fire Service from the Lakatamia Fire Station responded with two fire engines and the fire was brought under control at 04.17. The vehicle was extensively damaged by the fire. A BMW vehicle parked close to the vehicle involved in the fire was also affected by the heat. A third VOLVO vehicle was also slightly damaged, as well as air conditioning equipment and part of the coating of the dwelling. The cause of the fire will be investigated later today, in cooperation with the police.
