The Fire Service from 06.00 on 19 January 2022 until 06.00 of 20 January 2022, responded to 25 calls for assistance, 8 fires, 15 special services and 2 false calls.
At 21.26 hours a call was received for a fire in an upper floor of a house in the village of Kato Amiodos, Limassol. Moniati Fire Station responded with one fire engine and was reinforced by British Troodos Bases with one fire engine. At the time of the fire, the two occupants were in the house, who managed to exit the house in time, as did the occupant of the ground floor house, without any health problems. The occupants were accommodated by the village commoner at another place for the night. Due to the fire and heat, the upstairs house, as well as its contents, were extensively damaged. Water wrappers and breathing apparatus had to be used to extinguish it. The fire was brought under control at 23:40 and appears to have originated from the chimney.
At 03.59 a call was received for a fire in two vehicles in a settlement in Upper Polemidia, Limassol. The two vehicles, brand MAZDA DEMIO and TOYOTA YARIS, were parked in an open parking area. Members of the Police and Fire Service from the Monovolikou Fire Station responded with a fire engine and the fire was brought under control at 04.47. Due to the fire and heat, the vehicles were extensively damaged. The scene was handed over to Limassol CID and will be guarded pending an investigation into the causes of the fire later today, in conjunction with the Police.
