The Environment Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment organizes the informative workshop "Take it another way.., put waste in the cycle of life", in view of the actions carried out in the context of the circular economy and rational waste management, on 23 November 2023 at the "Melina Mercouri Theatre" Cultural Centre in Palouriotissa.
The workshop is held in the context of the European Week for Waste Prevention (EWWR), which for 2023 has been set for the week 18-26 November, with the theme "packaging" and the slogan "Don't get lost in packaging - Don't get wrapped up". The event will provide an opportunity for organisations and organised groups to present their actions related to the circular economy, packaging reduction, reducing food and single-use plastics waste, and textile processing.
The European Week for Waste Prevention aims to promote at European level the implementation of actions to raise public awareness on sustainable waste management, as a resource and not as waste. This is achieved by organising actions focusing on the reduction, reuse and recycling of items and waste, as well as promoting national and European policies on waste management across Europe.
- There will be presentations to raise awareness on waste management, as well as good practices implemented by various organisations.
- At the same time, an exhibition will be held in the same area, showcasing various actions and the work of the participants.
- There will also be an opportunity to exchange and collect clothes, toys and books.
- Furthermore, there will be special bins for the collection of small electrical and electronic appliances and batteries up to two kilos from the WEEE Cyprus and AFES Cyprus systems.
Interested parties can fill in the participation form online no later than Monday, 20/11/2023. For further information, interested parties may contact 22408923 and 22408938 or online at ngeorgiou@environment.moa.gov.cy and echristodoulidou@environment.moa.gov.cy.
