The increased voter turnout for our occupied municipalities will send a message about our desire to end the occupation and reunify Cyprus, President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides said today.
In his remarks to journalists at the Chirio Gymnasium in Limassol, where he went with his wife Mrs. Philippa Karseras Christodoulides, who exercised her right to vote for the Famagusta Municipality in the context of the local government elections, and referring to the occupied municipalities, the President of the Republic said the following:
"It is very important that the participation rate is increased. Among many other things, it sends a message about our desire, in practice, to end the occupation, to reunite our homeland, and I am sure that the refugee world will respond to this call."
Asked if he will visit another province today, the President of the Republic said: "I will go back to Nicosia to follow the process and the results with some colleagues and sometime tonight I will make a public statement in relation to the elections."
