A visit to the Nephrology Centre "Nephrodida" in Nicosia was made this morning by Health Minister Michael Damianos.
In his statements after the visit, Mr Damianos said that this is a state-of-the-art centre, which supports our fellow citizens with nephrological problems and operates with the most modern equipment and qualified staff, ensuring the high quality of care that patients deserve.
As the Ministry of Health, Damianos said, we will continue to support such efforts, which enhance the quality of life of patients and the health system of our country.
The Minister of Health congratulated the entire team of the Nephrology Centre "Nephrodida" for their dedication and professionalism and thanked them for their significant contribution to the health sector.
Asked about the return to duty of a doctor who had been convicted of indecently assaulting a woman, the Health Minister said that this case is before the Doctors' Disciplinary Board (MDB) and that "we will have to wait for this process to be completed". Similar procedures, Damianos explained, are being followed in other countries around the world.
In response to a question regarding the legislative regulation of similar cases, the Minister said that "this is something that we need to look at in cooperation with the PIS, so that it can be given the legal weapons that can be granted to it, always within the framework of the broader legislation, the constitutional provisions, etc.etc."
