We are working feverishly to ensure that all measures are in place for the June 9 election day and everything will run smoothly, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letibiotis said today.

Speaking to reporters after the annual national commemoration of the fallen of the Kontenou Community in Nicosia, the Spokesman, asked if the state machinery is ready for the June 9 elections and what is his message to the voters, said: "In one week we have a crucial election, as crucial as any election is for our country.

But it is special because it coincides with the implementation of one of the biggest reforms that have been approved.

As a Government, together with the relevant Ministry of Interior, we are working feverishly to ensure that on election day - where we will have a double election with multiple ballots, you understand the degree of complexity - all the measures are in place.

We thank the officials of the Ministry of Interior and all those who have worked beyond their working hours to ensure that everything goes smoothly on election day, but also during the implementation of the reform, which aims to improve the daily life of citizens, which is a key pillar of the President's programme.

Because it is our basic conviction that every election is crucial, especially for a semi-detached country, we call and send a message to all our fellow citizens to go to the polls next Sunday and exercise their democratic right, which previous generations sacrificed to obtain.

This is the moment of democracy, when everyone can send his or her own message, in the most democratic, purest way, by exercising the highest democratic right."
