Following today's meeting of the President of the Republic Mr.

"There was a very productive meeting with the Cheese Makers Association, whom we would like to thank for their constructive attitude. The issues were discussed and raised in depth under the President of the Republic, in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. A thorough discussion was held and suggestions were made by both sides for solutions to the issues raised. What was decided is that the dialogue will continue on the data and on the issues raised. What was decided and what the President of the Republic informed about is that from 1 July 2024 the registration of sheep and goat's milk will start.

Also, the recommendation that has been made to the Cheese Makers' Association is to extend the existing decree until 21 February, when the decision of the European Court of Justice will be issued as regards the appeal that is being made. What we have to say is that the common goal of the Government and the Cheesemakers' Association, what unites us is the claim and further promotion of halal. It is in the interest of all of us. It is in the common interest of the Government and the Cheesemakers' Association. We will be in constant communication. We will be in contact. It has been decided as of today that in the first week of March this meeting will be repeated under the President of the Republic so that the issues that have been discussed tonight and other issues that the Cheese Makers Association has raised before the President of the Republic can be put on the table."

In response to a question whether the rate remains at 19%, the Government Spokesman said: "What the President of the Republic and the Minister of Agriculture have recommended to the Cheesemakers' Association - I understand that the General Assembly of the Cheesemakers' Association will meet tomorrow - is that the existing decree remains in force until 21 February. That is, as extended until February 21."

Asked if the strike measures will be suspended, Mr. Letibiotis replied, "I understand that this is at the discretion of the Cheesemakers' Association after the General Assembly which will be held tomorrow."

Asked if by February 21 the rate will be at 10%, the Government Spokesman pointed out that the rate remains "at 19%. The existing ordinance instead of being changed, amended from February 1 with an increase to 25%, will be extended until February 21 and will remain at 19%. This is the Government's recommendation to the Cheese Makers' Association."
