The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr.Nikos Christodoulides, expressed his satisfaction with what he has been informed about the meetings of the Greek Prime Minister, noting that an announcement from the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) on his intentions is expected tonight.
In his statements to reporters while attending the inauguration of the exhibition of Michael Casialos at the Costas Argyros Museum in Mazotos and asked if he was informed about the Greek Prime Minister's meeting with the Turkish President in New York, the President of the Republic said: "I spoke with the Greek Prime Minister, he called me."
The Foreign Minister spoke with Mr. Gerapetritis.
We spoke with Mrs. [MARÍA ÁNGELA] Holguín. At 10pm Cyprus time the UN Secretary General's Representative will make a statement on the matter, so let's be patient and he will announce on behalf of the Secretary General what his intentions are."
Asked if he is satisfied with what he has learned, the President said: "I am satisfied with what I have heard from the Greek Prime Minister, but I am also satisfied with the information I received from the Foreign Minister, who spoke with Mr. Gerapetritis. We look forward to the announcements of the Secretary General. According to the information that I have, speaking also with Ms. Olegin, there will be an announcement. So, to wait."
Asked if he responded to the DISY announcement, the President said: "No, I don't want to respond to anything. What I wanted to say I have said. The Government Spokesman replied. I consider the institution of the National Council important and as the guardian of this institution I have to protect it."
