President Nicos Christodoulides will visit Lebanon on Monday for a meeting with the country's leadership on the migration issue, he said this afternoon.

In his remarks to reporters in Tochni, the President of the Republic was asked about the content of the United Nations (UN) Secretary General's (UNSG) proposals, when asked to comment on controversies over the proposal, he said: "I was given a specific proposal by the UN Secretary General, there were others at the meeting, we were not alone. I responded positively. Hopefully tomorrow there will be positive developments.

We have the support of the Greek Government in this effort. The Foreign Minister (of Greece) is in Brussels, at the NATO Summit, and let's wait and see. Hopefully there will be positive developments and surely what needs to be done will be done."

Asked to mention something specific in relation to the support we expect from the Commission on the migration issue, the President of the Republic said: "On Sunday I will meet with the President of the European Commission and we are in contact at a technical level.

On Monday I will go to Lebanon together with the Ministers of Interior, Foreign Affairs, the Chief of the National Guard and other state officials. I have spoken again with the Prime Minister of Lebanon.

We are indeed in a difficult situation, in a crisis, but I want to assure you that we will do everything possible, and by saying everything possible I am not excluding anything, so that we can deal with this situation as well. And you can be sure that we will face it."
