The implementation of the Digital Citizen programme is one of the key issues that will occupy today's meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, as President of the Republic Mr.
At the opening of today's meeting of the Council of Ministers at the Presidential Palace, the President of the Republic, addressing the members of the Council of Ministers, said: "In addition to the decisions we will take on the items on the agenda, I will ask some of you to inform me about current developments before we start the discussion, such as from the Minister of Labour on the discussion with the social partners, but also on some issues of the Ministry of Health, which we would like to be informed about.
Today, however, one of the main topics in the Council of Ministers is an update from the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy on the digital transformation of the country.
We start with the Digital Citizen, as I announced in January, during the presentation of our Programme for 2024.
It is a topic that I want everyone to "run" more and I want the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy to give an update.
Digital transformation is a priority, to fight bureaucracy, to strengthen the competitiveness of our country.
It is a platform that offers services of the state to the citizen in an evolutionary way. It has two dimensions. One is the new central government portal. It will bring together all available services and through it the Cypriot citizen will be able to visit the state websites, which are being redesigned on the basis of a common standard.
We are one government, all ministries should have the same websites, they should be able to offer the opportunity for people to be able to do their work electronically.
Also, in the second half of 2024 I think we will be able to present it and people will start using it, is the Digital Citizen application for mobile devices, through which they will be able to keep official documents in digital format and therefore be able to use them in Services in their work with the state.
Given that the cooperation of all of you is necessary, it is a horizontal priority - it is not something that only concerns the State Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, it is something that concerns all of you - I asked today for a presentation by the State Minister of Research, to see what the outstanding issues are and to decide with timetables. Everyone will have to do their own work so that what we promised the world, what I publicly announced in the presentation of the priorities on 29 January, we are able to present.
So, today, because it is on a cross-cutting priority, we are launching this new approach and I will ask other Ministers who have cross-cutting issues that 'touch' all Ministries to make their presentations, so that everyone can see where they are and with timelines we will move forward."
