There will be no cover-up for anyone, President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides said today, referring to the Vasilikos investigations, assuring that he personally takes responsibility for this.
In his statements to journalists after the memorial service of the National Lord Makarios III at the Holy Monastery of Kykkos, and asked whether the Cyprus Government will conduct an investigation into the Vasilikos case, the President of the Republic said:
"From the very beginning we have been cooperating with the European Public Prosecutor's Office and I want to say publicly today: nothing will be kept secret in relation to this matter.
All this must be forgotten. There is no attempt whatsoever and there will be - and I take personal responsibility - no cover-up of anything. No one is above the law and the interests of the Republic of Cyprus.
I want to be clear and unequivocal on this particular issue."
Asked what responsibility he assumes, the President of the Republic said:
"The responsibility that all, those responsible for wrong (having), whether contracts or whatever, through the results of the investigation of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, which no one can question, will be brought to justice. Absolutely no cover-up for anyone. And it is a clear message to the Cypriot people."
