Defence relations between Cyprus and the UAE are strengthening, Defence Minister Haralambos Petrides said today.
In a statement to journalists on the sidelines of the President's visit to Dubai, Mr. Petrides said that "I had a meeting and working lunch today with my UAE counterpart and we certainly discussed the developments in Ukraine and the next steps for the stability of the wider region and the Eastern Mediterranean.
We discussed how to proceed with the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation that we have signed since 2021, as well as the bilateral defense agreement program.
My counterpart is due to visit Cyprus later this year, we put the issues on the table and we seem to be moving forward by strengthening our relationship and fleshing out the signature with actions that we have already defined in advance since last year."
