Next Friday, the President of the European Commission will visit, together with the President of the Republic, the infrastructures included in some phases of the plan to create a maritime humanitarian aid corridor in Gaza, Government Spokesman Mr.

In his statements to journalists at the Presidential Palace and asked about the issue of the creation of the maritime corridor for humanitarian aid in Gaza, the Spokesman said: "The interest from states in the region, and not only from other states, but also from European Union (EU) member states and EU institutions in planning for the sea corridor to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza has been heightened from the beginning, and we have mentioned this repeatedly.

For this reason, tomorrow evening, the President of the European Commission, Ms Ursula von der Leyen, will visit our country and on Friday she will visit, together with the President of the Republic, the infrastructures included in some phases of the planning.

A detailed programme for Ms Ursula von der Leyen's visit will be announced tomorrow, while tomorrow evening the President of the Republic will host a private dinner in her honour."

He added that: "What is of particular importance is that there is a growing recognition of the added value of a sea corridor for unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to the civilian population of Gaza, and this proves that we can deliver humanitarian assistance as soon as possible."

We as the Republic of Cyprus, recognizing our role both as a state in the region, but also as a state with excellent relations with the states in the region, as an EU member state, have taken the initiative from the very first moment, presenting a very concrete "It is a fact that the sea corridor is aimed solely at providing humanitarian assistance to the civilian population in Gaza. This has been our objective from the very beginning, a one-way sea corridor for uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to the civilian population of Gaza in a major, massive humanitarian crisis as it unfolds. This is the sole and exclusive objective of this initiative."
