Our will for a solution to the Cyprus problem will not bend or diminish and we will never settle for a fait accompli, Government Spokesman Mr. Constantinos Letibiotis.

In his statements to journalists at the Presidential Palace, the Spokesman, referring to today's anniversary of the illegal declaration of the pseudo-state, said: "It is a sad anniversary of the illegal declaration, which reminds us of the flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, which violates United Nations resolutions. The international community itself, for 40 years, has been condemning it and calling for its revocation.

It is 40 years of violations of international law and unacceptable claims.

The Republic of Cyprus, as the only recognized state, member state of the UN and the EU, remains committed to efforts to achieve a viable, peaceful and final settlement of the Cyprus problem.

With political will and determination we will continue our efforts to resume negotiations from where they were interrupted.

The will to resolve the Cyprus problem with a solution of a bizonal bicommunal federation with political equality is neither weakened nor diminished, but remains strong. We will never compromise with the fait accompli."
