Maintaining haloumi as the main export product and at the same time, maintaining the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), which ensures the dynamics of the product, are our main objectives. An important milestone, as we announced with the adoption of the new decree to achieve these objectives, is the launch of the sheep and goat milk counting software in October 2024. Therefore, the quantitative data generated by this software will form an important basis and will be taken into account with the other data to determine the milk ratios in the Ordinances.
As part of the implementation of our targets, the Council of Ministers today approved the granting of financial support of €210k to tanker owners (natural or legal persons) for the upgrade or replacement of electronic systems for sending raw milk movement data to meet the needs of the software.
