I express my great satisfaction with the agreement to establish a Strategic Dialogue between the Republic of Cyprus and the United States of America (USA), which was reached during the visit of the Foreign Minister to the United States. This is an agreement that significantly upgrades and strengthens the strategic relationship between the Republic of Cyprus and the United States, especially at an important juncture.
In addition to the strengthening of political, economic and social ties, the agreement is expected to bring multiple and multi-level benefits.
In particular, it will upgrade cooperation between Nicosia and Washington in vital areas for the Republic of Cyprus, such as energy, research and technology, as well as security. At the same time, important for the Cypriot economy are the prospects for investment in our country, as well as for strengthening our trade relations with the US. At the same time, we are working intensively with the US authorities for the inclusion of our country in the Visa Waiver Program, which will allow Cypriot citizens to travel to the United States without the need to obtain an entry permit in advance.

As of today, our country's bilateral relationship with the United States is significantly strengthened.
I welcome, once again, with great satisfaction the signing of the agreement and I am confident that, in addition to the positive results for both countries and our citizens, it will strengthen the international footprint of the Republic of Cyprus and its recognition as a reliable and stable partner, as well as a pillar of security, cooperation and peace in the wider Middle East region.
