Today's International Women's Day is a day of reflection and contemplation on what has happened and what needs to happen for women around the world. Today we commemorate and remember the struggles of thousands of women over the years for the right to vote, for economic independence, for professional advancement, for equality and for our rights.
In Cyprus too, thousands of women, regardless of their political beliefs, united their voices and made important struggles so that we as women could have the position we have today in society, in the economy and in the political life of the country.

Important steps have been taken and more needs to be done to eliminate all gender inequality.
Through the National Strategy for Gender Equality with a horizon of 2026, we are working hard to integrate the gender dimension into every aspect of our everyday life. This will be achieved through initiatives, actions and policies and in cooperation with all Ministries and Deputy Ministries and civil society.
The struggle to achieve Gender Equality is continuous and will not stop until every girl and every woman has equal opportunities and rights.
